Pfizer / Hughston Foundation Preceptorship

     Recently, physicians of the Hughston Clinic participated in the Pfizer / Hughston Foundation Preceptorship. Champ L. Baker, Jr., MD, welcomed the participants and later presented, “Nonoperative Treatments of Sports Related Injuries.” Surgeon, John I. Waldrop, MD, presented a live total knee arthroplasty surgery with moderator, Carlton G. Savory, MD, FACS. Mark Baker, PT, CEO, presented “Opportunities and Obstacles Facing Today’s Orthopaedic Clinic” and Rob Hopkins, PT, SCS, presented “General Rehabilitation for the Postoperative Extremity Patient.”

     Two surgical procedures were presented via video by Champ L. Baker III, MD, “Shoulder Scope Bankart Lesion Repair” and David C. Rehak, MD, “Carpal Tunnel Release.” After each presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and there was a panel discussion at the end of the event. The lectures and surgery demonstrations taught Pfizer representatives common orthopaedic surgical procedures and nonsurgical treatment options for orthopaedic patients.
