"INSCRIPTION" _____________________________________________________________________________ The Hughston Clinic was recently recognized and honored, on Nov. 20, 2007, for its dedication and service to military patients and their families. Representatives from Martin Army Community Hospital and Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS) presented Hughston Clinic leaders with a plaque of appreciation. “This is a great honor to be recognized by Martin Army Community Hospital and Humana Military Healthcare Services,” said Dr. John Waldrop, an orthopaedic surgeon at The Hughston Clinic. “The Hughston Clinic has always been a loyal supporter of Fort Benning and our troops and their families. It is our honor and responsibility to provide medical and healthcare services to the military community during a time of increased need.” The ceremony was held at 1 p.m. at The Hughston Clinic, located at 6262 Veterans Parkway. A tour of the facility followed the presentation. The special presentation to The Hughston Clinic was made by Col. Harry Warren, Commander of Martin Army Community Hospital, and Donna Hiller, TRICARE Service Center Manager of Humana Military Healthcare Services. “The Hughston Clinic has consistently provided outstanding support to Martin Army Community Hospital over the past six years,” said Col. Warren. “They have never failed to step up when Martin Army had staffing shortages in their own Orthopaedic Clinic. Hughston physicians and therapists regularly provide urgent medical services to soldiers, retirees and their dependents when Martin Army requests their assistance with evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic cases.” “Martin Army Hospital and The Hughston Clinic have always had a close relationship,” said Mark Baker, Chief Operating Officer at The Hughston Clinic. “Hughston has five physicians with former military experience. They are: Dr. Champ Baker, Dr. Thomas Bernard, Dr. Patrick Fernicola, Dr. James McGrory and Dr. Carlton Savory. Many of these doctors practiced medicine at Martin Army Hospital before joining The Hughston Clinic. As a matter of fact, Dr. Doug Pahl, a former Orthopaedic Surgeon at Martin Army, will join Hughston upon completion of his Fellowship in back and spine disorders in 2008. As you can see, the two institutions have a unique and special connection.” |
