John D. Dorchak, M.D.

 

    John D. Dorchak, MD, who is originally from Columbus, Georgia, graduated from Columbus High School in 1977. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1984. He completed his residency at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, and the University of California-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery with the Department of Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.

    Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he holds membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society.

    His specialty is orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis in spine surgery. He has a patent on instrumentation methods for vertebral interbody fission. He has also designed cervical and lower lumbar fusion cages, as well as the associated surgical techniques. He is also one of the lead surgeons in developing the innovative surgery of total disc replacement.
