Kurt E. Jacobson, M.D. inducted into Valdosta State University Athletic Hall of Fame

Valdosta State University held its 12th Athletic Hall of Fame Induction January 26, 2008, honoring Dr. Jacobson and four student athletes. Along with Dr. Jacobson, Reggie Mosley, C.J. Lofton, Aparna Sreenivasan, and Kathy Kennedy Matthews were recognized during a luncheon ceremony for their contribution to Blazer sports at VSU.

The luncheon featured speeches from each inductee following the reception of plaques, a presentation from Director of Athletics, Herb Reinhard, and remarks from VSU President, Dr. Ronald Zaccari.

Dr. Jacobson has been the team physician for VSU since 1985. He became a member of the medical team after Dr. Baker started the sports medicine program at VSU. Dr. Baker was given an opportunity to work with another university, which opened the door for Dr. Jacobson to become the team physician.

“It was a blessing for me, to come here,” Dr. Jacobson said. “Valdosta State University has been a part of my life for 23 years, and all the coaches, athletes, and staff have become my extended family and friends.”

After the induction, the five new members of the VSU Hall of Fame participated in the Parade of Champions at the university. All five inductees were also introduced during half-time of the men’s basketball game against West Alabama on the same date.
