Osteoarthritis

October 26, 2016

Arthritis specifically affects the body’s joints. Osteoarthritis, or OA, is a degenerative or “wear and tear” type of arthritis. Thus, it becomes more common with increasing age. It can affect any joint, but it is most common in the knee, hip, and spine. Repetitive motion, an injury from sports or employment, and excessive body weight can also accelerate the degenerative process. Treating osteoarthritis often involves avoiding damaging activities, managing inflammation, reducing pain, controlling your weight, and maintaining flexibility with regular exercise.
