Douglas W. Pahl, M.D., graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas then earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, GA. After completion of his distinguished army career, Dr. Pahl elected to complete a fellowship in orthopaedic spine surgery at the prestigious Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Dr. Pahl is a United States Army veteran of over twelve years and combat veteran of two major military conflicts during his career, Operation Joint Guard in eastern Europe and, more recently, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The United States Army selected him for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel during his most recent deployment to Afghanistan. He was the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Services at Martin Army Community Hospital at Ft. Benning for two years and also commanded a detachment from the 14th
Combat Support Hospital during his deployment to the war in Afghanistan. Dr. Pahl earned many military awards during his army career including three Meritorious Service Medals.
Dr. Pahl is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. He obtained his certification in orthopaedic surgery from the academy in 2005. He has authored articles and completed research on orthopaedic surgery and spinal disorders. Dr. Pahl has also been selected as the Chairman of the North American Spine Society Public Affairs Committee.
Dr. Pahl specializes in orthopaedic spinal surgery with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. He has recently developed new spine surgery instruments to improve minimally invasive techniques. Additionally, he specializes in adult and pediatric spinal deformity, and cervical and lumbar degenerative disorders.
