Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Brummel received his undergraduate degree at California State University of Fullerton. He completed his graduate studies at San Diego State University where he studied public health. He graduated medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He trained in orthopaedic surgery at Riverside County Regional Medical Center, the Kaiser medical system, and Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Recently, he completed a one-year sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Foundation in Columbus, Georgia.
Dr. Brummel is board eligible in orthopaedic surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, and the American Medical Association. He is also a candidate member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopic Association of North America.
Dr. Brummel has a passion for sports medicine and the health of athletes. He has treated and worked on the sports medicine team for the semi-pro hockey teams, the Ontario Reign and the Columbus Cottonmouths. He has also covered high school and collegiate sports. He is currently the team orthopaedic physician for Point University and Manchester High School.
In addition to General Orthopedics, Dr. Brummel specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and shoulder, knee, and hip injuries. He continues to perform and participate in academic research in sports medicine at the Hughston Foundation. Outside of work, Dr. Brummel enjoys spending time at the lake with his wife and two dogs. He is excited to take in the southern hospitality and begin his family here in the South.
