Dr. McLaughlin was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1994, and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee. He specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, general orthopaedics, and fracture management. He is affiliated with Skyline Medical Center, Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics Surgery Center, and HealthSouth Nashville Surgery Center. He also maintains courtesy privileges with Hendersonville Medical Center and Skyline Madison Campus.
Dr. McLaughlin graduated with honors from George Washington High School in Charleston, West Virginia. After graduating Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1982, he completed his Medical Degree with honors from West Virginia University in 1986. His internship and orthopaedic surgery residency were completed at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was voted Intern of the Year in 1987. Dr. McLaughlin was Chief Orthopaedic Resident in 1991.
Dr. McLaughlin is a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He served as the past Chief of Staff at Skyline Medical Center and on its Board of Directors. He is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association, Nashville Tennessee Orthopaedics Association, American Medical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. McLaughlin joined Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics, PLC in 1999, after being in private practice in Clarksville, Tennessee. He has been involved with the sports medicine programs of Davidson Academy, Goodpasture Christian School, and other local schools.
Aside from orthopaedics, Dr. McLaughlin’s interests include his family, outdoor activities, sports, construction, and hobby farming.
